VIETSOC CORNER: A LOOK BACK AT THE EXPLOSIVE ACTIVITIES AND MEMORABLE MILESTONES OF THE FIRST THREE MONTHS OF 2026

The first quarter of 2026 saw incredibly dynamic and creative activity that strongly united the international student community. Let's take a look at the key milestones and standout events across Vietsocs nationwide in the UK!

The Official Establishment of "Vietsoc London"

Continuing the mission to create a "common home", Vietsoc London was officially established. It is an alliance bringing together leading universities in the capital, including LSE, City, UAL, UCL, KCL, Queen Mary, Greenwich, Middlesex, Hertfordshire, and Westminster.

On April 23, 2026, SVUK and Vietsoc London signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and adopted its operating charter. Immediately after its establishment, Vietsoc London made an impactful debut with a series of impressive events that attracted significant attention from the community, including a Pickleball tournament, a Vinahouse Clubbing night, and the Breaking In networking event.

The Vibrant "Vietsoc's Tet" Event Series!

From February 6 to February 20, 2026 (the 19th of the lunar December to the 4th of the Lunar New Year), the traditional Tet atmosphere filled the misty country, thanks to the dynamism and creativity of our local chapters. Up to 22 unique Tet events were organised simultaneously by Vietsocs nationwide (notably Vietsoc Leeds, Vietsoc UCL, Vietsoc Southampton, Vietsoc Liverpool, Vietsoc Birmingham, Vietsoc Manchester, etc.). These spring-welcoming nights not only brought a warm taste of home to expats but also attracted the interest and participation of many international friends.

A Colourful & Vibrant March

The Vietsocs March passed with brilliant colours and was full of emotion, spanning everything from tribute activities to passionate sporting arenas:

• Honouring Women (March 8): The highlight was a series of events celebrating International Women's Day. From romantic, cosy dinners (Vietsoc Bath), DIY fresh-flower wrapping and handmade craft workshops dedicated to women (Vietsoc UCL, Vietsoc QMUL, Vietsoc KCL), to small, surprising gifts (Vietsoc Lancaster). All of these created incredibly gentle and meaningful moments to honour women everywhere.
• Passionate about Sport: March also saw an explosion of energy with thrilling friendly tournaments. Highlights included billiards matches (Vietsoc UOB, Vietsoc BCU, Vietsoc Aston), intense badminton matches (Vietsoc Cambridge, Vietsoc UEA, Vietsoc Southampton), and especially the Manchester Spring Cup football tournament, which brought together players from Vietsoc UOB, Vietsoc Coventry, and Vietsoc Manchester.
• Cozy "Social" Gatherings: Essential to student life are the meet-ups that help dispel study stress. "Movie Nights" (Vietsoc Bath, Vietsoc Liverpool), Board Game sessions (Vietsoc Westminster, Vietsoc City), and sharing gatherings (Vietsoc Cambridge, Vietsoc Nottingham, Vietsoc UCL) became important puzzle pieces, helping the community get closer, relax together, and create beautiful youth memories.

Rapid Disbursement of the "Growing with Vietsoc" Fund

In recent months, the chapters demonstrated excellent creativity by actively utilising resources from the strategic fund “Growing with Vietsoc” (Cùng Vietsoc phát triển).

After just 1 month of implementation, SVUK completed the 100% disbursement of the fund. Enthusiastic participation and high-quality proposals from the chapters helped the fund fulfil its mission of directly providing financial support for grassroots community activities. SVUK is currently evaluating its effectiveness to prepare for the next exciting support programmes.
