GUIDELINE FOR A POST ON THE SVUK FORUM

SVUK Forum – the shared home for the Vietnamese student community in the UK!

Every day, the Forum receives hundreds of posts ranging from Q&As on personal experiences, housing searches, to buying/selling and recruitment. However, since the Facebook Group platform currently does not support sub-categories, it is very easy for posts to get lost or lack necessary information.

To keep our online space organized, helpful, and to protect the rights of all members, the SVUK Admin Board has officially issued the Posting Rules & Guidelines. Below is the "survival guide" to help get your posts approved instantly!

1. The Title Formula

Every post on the SVUK Forum must have a clear title starting with a [CONTENT TAG].

(Note: Posts without a tag, with an incorrect tag, or with intentionally misleading titles will be asked to be edited or rejected by Moderators).

Not every step takes much time, but skipping them makes your post easily rejected. Here are the bullet points you should keep in mind before posting:

• Search first. Your question might have already been answered thoroughly in the Forum. Use the search function to check before creating a new post.
• Identify the correct post type. Does your post belong to "study, housing, jobs, buying/selling, shipping, events, or Q&A"? Choose the corresponding tag.
• Place the tag at the beginning of the title. This is mandatory. Posts without tags may be rejected immediately without the content being reviewed.
• Provide all necessary information. Housing posts need price, location, and duration. Job posts require company name, job description, and application method. Buy/sell posts need real photos and contact info.
• Verify accuracy. Especially for topics related to visas, law, finance, health, etc., make sure the information you share is accurate.
• Wait for approval, do not repost. If a post is pending approval, do not post it multiple times. If an admin requests edits, simply update it according to the instructions.

2. Minimum Information by Post Type

Longer isn't always better, but missing these basic details makes your post highly likely to be rejected or sent back for additions. Make sure to provide exactly what is needed based on the category of your post.

3. The "No-Go Zones" (Banned Content)

• Posts containing scams, multi-level marketing, recruitment requiring unusual fees, fake documents, prohibited goods, personal call-outs without clear evidence, attacks or insults towards others, or any content violating UK/Vietnamese laws.
• Note for commercial posts: If the post aims to promote or sell, state it clearly in the content. Do not use the name of SVUK or Vietsoc without official written confirmation.
• Regarding the [WARNING] tag: Only use this when you have solid, verifiable evidence. Avoid one-sided accusations or unverified personal call-outs.

4. After Your Post is Approved

Once the post is live, you are still responsible for it:

• Monitor and reply to comments fully and politely, especially when others are asking for contact details.
• Update the post when the information is no longer valid (e.g., room found, items sold, event registration closed).
• Do not edit the post to completely change its original content; this is a way of bypassing moderation and will be handled accordingly.
• Do not incite arguments or lead comments away from the original topic.
• Take personal responsibility for the posted information and any personal transactions arising from the post.

5. What to do if your post is rejected?

If your post is rejected or you disagree with the moderation decision, you can contact the Admin/Moderator team directly. Please prepare:

• The post link or screenshots of the relevant content.
• A brief description of the issue you want reviewed.
• Additional information or evidence, if any.

SVUK will review feedback objectively and protect the shared interests of the community. However, the post will not be restored if the content does not meet the guidelines or poses a risk to the Forum.
